Monday Musings: Lauren Spencer King
I came across the work of Lauren Spencer King when I was looking for a bit of inspiration online. I love her use of mixed media and the subtlety of graphite against black and white images.

Daily Drawings: New Sketchbook Characters!
Sorry for not sharing my drawings of late but if i'm being honest there hasn't been many to share! I've been spending a lot of time getting my new cross stitch patterns together (more on that at a later date) and trying to finish bits n pieces of jewellery for craft sales.
Here are some characters that I've been doodling in my sketchbook over the past couple of days....

Icon: Jacqueline Groag
Jacqueline Groag was born in Czechoslovakia in 1903 and despite her success as a textile designer during her lifetime her name isn't known to many outside the textile industry. Looking at her designs from the 1950s, they could still be used in many households today without looking dated which is a testament to her talent.
I enjoy her playful illustrative style that adds a painterly element to repeat pattern. The bold colour palette of the designs ensures that smaller details 'pop' especially in designs with a darker background.
Here are some more designs for you to enjoy...

Monday Musings: Super Mario Stamps
I like the idea of anything that makes everyday life a bit more fun so these Super Mario Bros stamps were right up my street. They were released in Japan in 2007 and weren't accepted as postage outside of Japan but collectors were allowed to purchase the sets and have them imported.
