I have the intention of working on some quite large canvas that's lying around in the studio but my painting skills are pretty rusty!
I like to combine a few different materials but usually I go with acrylic paint, paper layers and ink. I tend to be an 'overworker' when it comes to painting so I usually have to leave things for a few days and come back to them so that I don't mess up hours of hard work by adding a little too much of something!
I decided to mess around with some small (10cm x 10cm) canvas and tried to use actual pen on top of paint instead of ink with a brush. The results are quite patchy and, between you and I, I absolutely hate the one with the purple triangles on it (see what I mean with the overworking and not leaving time to think!)

Paperfolk Loves... Pattern Pattern Pattern!
Anyone who is a regular reader of this blog will know that I do love a bit of a pattern. Without a doubt I will always love whatever designs appear in Marimekko and Orla Kiely collections. I'm a fan of bold colours and geometric designs that have that 'hand drawn' feel to them. While I was scouring the internet I found these beauties. I absolutely love the Eley Kishimoto top but I am also loving the bold brights that have perked up the traditional Liberty print collection.
Enjoy!

Daily Drawings: Envelope Experiments
So I really haven't posted a drawing in a long time! To be honest its actually been a while since I sat down to do a drawing that wasn't for research or a sketch for a future embroidery.
I was lucky to get a bit of time in the studio the other day to just play around. I sometimes get freaked out when I just play around because it can often not lead to any outcome but I always feel better and more creative whenever I do it.
I was messing around with some paint and while I was waiting for something else to dry. I started to paint/draw on top of some brown envelopes I had lying around. I can't help drawing in pattern...

Crafty Exploits: Embroidered Jewellery
First of all let me say a huge sorry for not posting anything at all over the past couple of weeks. I couldn't believe it when I looked at the date of my last post! I've had a lot of family things on recently and my little girl is on the move so needs a watchful eye over her at every moment!
I've been experimenting with creating embroidered pieces of jewellery although i'm struggling to keep them to my particular style at the moment so I don't know exactly what pieces will be reproduced for sale in the shop yet but i'll hopefully sort out a direction for the collection over the next few weeks.
In the meantime here are a few experimental pieces that would be created into brooches or pendants. Let me know what you think, I would love to hear from you.

Embroiderer's Delight... Notebooks
I expect if you're a creative person you'll understand where i'm coming from with the stationary madness. With that in mind I've pulled together a list (surprise surprise!) of some of my favourite notebooks available online at the moment. Imagine writing on that first lovely, crisp white page... go on you know you want to.
